Dr. Attia is a professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the College of Pharmacy at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt. He received his PhD in Genetics at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, in 2004. Dr. Attia has also worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Helmholtz Zentrum München-Genome Analysis Center (Formerly, GSF-Institute of Experimental Genetics), Neuherberg, Germany, and full-time as a Professor at the College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. These research periods focused on developing new methodologies for drug screening, toxicant detection, and prevention. During his scientific career, Dr. Attia has developed several advanced techniques and research protocols related to molecular pharmacology and toxicology. Dr. Attia has more than 300 publications in peer-reviewed international journals/books and serves on the editorial board and as a reviewer for many international journals. He has received grants from federal and local agencies and various foundations. He has been an invited speaker at many national and international meetings and received numerous national and international awards and honours for his contribution to research and education. Dr. Attia is among the 2% of the most distinguished and influential scientists in the world in their research career in 2020 - 2025, according to a database developed by Stanford University.
