Bio
Abdullah S. Aldwayyan received his BSc degree from Physics Department at King Saud University (KSU), his MSc degree in lasers and their applications from Essex University, UK. He has completed hiss PhD degree in “Instabilities of Semiconductor Lasers” from Wales University (Cardiff), UK. He is currently a Professor with Physics and Astronomy department at KSU. His research expertise and interests include fabrication and characterization of photonics devices including LEDs, LASERs and Solar Cells. He worked on the physical properties of new photovoltaic and lasing materials. His research extended to include the study and characterization of optical and lasing properties of novel nano- structured materials and composites. Aldwayyan is author and co-author of more than 90 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, several conference proceedings, patent, and 6 books and chapters both in English and Arabic languages. He has supervised and co-supervised on more than 35 graduate students at KSU.
Prof. Aldwayyan is a member of KSU scientific council and he was a member of establishing committee of King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology (KAIN). He was the vice dean of college of Science for development and quality and before that he was the chairman of Physics and Astronomy Department at KSU. He is now the supervisor of the photonics laboratory at KAIN/Physics a & Astronomy Dept.
