Enhanced supercapacitor performance of rGO-Supported BaVO3 nanostructures as advanced electrode materials

The global energy shortage and urgent need to mitigate energy-related fatalities have driven a pressing demand for highly efficient energy storage systems. Supercapacitors (SCs) have emerged as promising alternatives, positioned to replace traditional storage methods. This paper explores the use of multi-metal oxides, valued for their low cost and high performance, in combination with highly versatile reduced graphene oxide (rGO). Composite formation results in availability of large electroactive surface area of 1425 cm- 2 and greater specific surface area (SSA) of 67.87 m2 g- 1, contributing to smaller interfacial resistance of 314 mΩ. BaVO3/rGO nanocomposite manifests an exceptional specific capacitance (Csp) of 1217 F g- 1 at 2 A g- 1, accompanied by specific power (Pd) of 700 W kg- 1 and high specific energy (Ed) of 82.8 Wh kg- 1 relative to individual constituents. Chronoamperometry analysis evinces sustained current density (C.d) of 20 mA cm- 2 over a 50-h duration. Practical two-electrode system yielded Csp of 595 F g- 1, along with interfacial resistance of 0.9 Ω,
and a sustained stability of 50-h in both three and two-electrode configurations, attesting to robustness of BaVO3/rGO nanocomposite.
