Accelerator Physics - PHYS485

This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the Physics of the charged particle beams and modern particle accelerators. In this course, the student will learn:

  1. History, divelopment and types of acceleratorsc

  2. the basic components of accelerator in nuclear physics research

  3. Beam dynamics

  4. Types of accelerators including electrostatic accelerators, induction linear accelerators, linear radio‐frequency (RF) accelerators, and various circular accelerators such cyclotrons, synchrotrons. Applications of accelerators.

After completion of this course, the student should be able to take any advanced course in accelerator physics, or conduct a research in an accelerator facility.
