FIN 362
This is a core investment course in security valuation. It aims to familiarize students with the workings of asset markets and the fundamental tools of asset valuation. Two important asset classes will be covered: bonds and stocks. The main purpose of the course is to make the financial statement analysis and based on that compute the present value of future cash flows of the different financial assets like Equities, Preferred, and Bonds. The starting point of asset valuation is the stock valuation models. In covering the models, students shall examine their implications for security selection, and performance evaluation. The course will then proceed to fixed-income securities, focusing mainly on corporate bonds. While the main goal of the course is to familiarize students with the fundamental theoretical concepts, it will also emphasize the concepts' practical applications.
