Course Description:

• Introduction to bio-statistics -Types of data and graphical representation (Chapter 1 )
• Descriptive statistics: measures of Central tendency and Measures of dispersion (Chapter 2 )
• Basic probability, conditional probability, concept of independence, sensitivity, specificity -Bayes theorem for predictive probabilities (Chapter 3 )
• Some discrete probability distributions: cumulative probability-Binomial and Poisson (Chapter 4 )
• Continuous probability distributions: Normal distribution and t-distributions (Chapter 4 )
• Sampling distribution (Chapter 5 )
• Point and interval estimation (Chapter 6 )
• Testing hypothesis (Chapter 7 )

Grading:
Midterm I:    30  Marks    (1.5  hours)     (Chapter 1+2+3)
Midterm II:   30  Marks    (1.5 hours)      (Chapter 4+5)
Final Exam: 40 Marks     (2 hours)         (Chapter 6+7)
