ADVANCED CLINICAL RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a comprehensive clinically oriented course designed to expose the students to the variety of philosophies, materials and techniques in restorative dentistry. Mainly simple to moderate cases will be treated during this course. In addition to didactic courses, this course will provide a combination of visual and technical experiences that will enhance effective learning. This course introduces the first year student to critical thinking skills by utilizing information learned in basic sciences, clinical disciplines, and pre-clinical laboratories to treat patients in a clinical restorative setting. The student is expected to develop the necessary skills for gathering diagnostic information, developing a sequential treatment plan, and performing restorative procedures using sound clinical judgment and contemporary restorative techniques and materials.
After successful completion of this course, the student should have a sound basic foundational knowledge and experience in restorative dentistry that will enable him/her to manage restorative patients with less supervision. The foundation of clinical skill and experience gained in this course will help the student to develop a strong ability to acquire additional knowledge and technical skills and become a life-long learner in this field.
