EE 320: Communication Principles

This course prepares students with a foundation in communication principles and systems crucial for further studies or careers in electrical and communication engineering.

Provides an introduction to analog and digital communication systems. It focuses on the theory and application of communication techniques, system design, and analysis.

Key topics include:
    1.    Introduction to Communication Systems: Historical context, communication system components, applications, and design parameters.
    2.    Fourier Representation: Fourier transforms, properties, signal bandwidth, spectral densities, and system responses.
    3.    Amplitude Modulation (AM): Various AM techniques, modulation and detection methods, and frequency-division multiplexing (FDM).
    4.    Angle Modulation: Phase and frequency modulation, their properties, and FM stereo multiplexing.
    5.    Sampling and Pulse Modulation: Analog and digital pulse modulation techniques, quantization, line codes, and time-division multiplexing (TDM).
    6.    Digital Band-Pass Modulation Techniques: Binary amplitude-shift keying (BASK), binary phase-shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK), and binary frequency-shift keying (BFSK).
