The course provides an overview of Generative Grammar. It begins with word categories, progresses to phrase structure rules, expands to structural relations, advances to government and binding theory, and ends with detailed application of x-bar theory on English sentences. Understanding of this cumulative framework is demonstrated through drawing of syntactic trees.
