Intended Learning Outcomes: · Differentiate the response of the ill or injured infant or child (age specific) from that of an adult. · Identify and manage overt shock and respiratory failure when stabilizing critical pediatric patients · Discuss the Pharmacological management of pediatric emergencies and proper dosing protocols based on Pediatric Advanced Life Support Guidelines. · Demonstrate appropriate assessment technique for examining a neonate using Pediatric Evaluation and Management tools (Broslow, etc.) · Demonstrate the steps in resuscitation of a newborn. · Demonstrate Airway Management techniques in neonates and pediatric patient · Demonstrate vascular access techniques and its maintenance for a neonate and pediatric patient · Explain the rationale for having knowledge and skills appropriate for dealing with the infant and child patient. · Attend to the need for reassurance, empathy and compassion for the parent |
