BCH 610 (Gene Therapy
This course is designed to provide Post graduate PhD students familiarity with biological principles and modern approaches for the use of transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs) Zinc-finger nucleases (ZFNs) and CRISPR-Cas-9 genome engineering technologies. Students will learn about how these technologies are applied to mammalian cells and animal models, with emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of how CRISPR-based genome engineering works. In addition, this course will provide students with a base of knowledge on the various and often evolving applications of this technology for research, gene-therapy and the discovery of novel therapeutics
