CE633 - Advanced Traffic Operations and Control

The course will give students an “overview of concepts” in the traffic operations and control. In lectures, the basic theory and some fundamental theoretical insights will be explained. And most of the course discussions will be theoretical. The focus, however, will be on the insights that can be gained from these discussions. Hence, the course is intended for:

• PhD students from related subfields of transportation who want an overview of traffic operations and control
• Advanced practitioners within transportation who need to understand the theoretical fundamentals such as traffic flow theories better

Prerequisites: CE531 Traffic Flow Characteristics, CE534 Traffic Flow Operations and Control

Modeling of traffic flow operations and control using mathematical programming. Applications using simulation techniques, optimization methods, and expert systems. Emerging technologies such as ATMS, ATIS, AVCS, etc. (3 Credits)
