Numerical Methods (MATH254)

It is taught to First year Engineering and Computer Science students at KSU. The topics include numerical methods for solving nonlinear equations in one variable (Bisection method, fixed point method, Newton’s method, secant method, multiple roots, modified Newton’s method, rate of convergence), Newton's method for solving nonlinear systems of equations in two variables, solving systems of linear equations (direct methods like Gaussian elimination, Gaussian-Jordan elimination, and LU-decomposition methods with and without partial pivoting, and numerical methods like Jacobi and Gauss-Seidel methods, Interpolation and Polynomial Approximations using Lagrange and Newton's interpolation polynomials, interpolation using linear splines, Numerical Differentiation and Integration, and numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations using Taylor's methods and Runge-Kutta methods of order Two.
