Michael Schloter, born May 8th, 1966, is director of the Research Unit for Comparative Microbiome Analysis at the Helmholtz Zentrum München since 2011.
After he had finished his diploma at the University of Munich in 1990 he did his PhD at the University of Bayreuth in the working group of Prof. Klingmüller. After several PostDoc positions, he became leader of the working group “Functional Microbial Ecology” at the Institute for Soil Ecology at the GSF National Research Center in 2002.
Actually his work is focused on interactions between various hosts (including humans and plants) and microbes.
Since 2010 Michael Schloter is Professor for Microbiology at the Technical University of Munich.
