A significant enhancement in the power conversion efficiency from 8.93 to 10.52% has been achieved by designing the perovskite solar cell by incorporating CdS quantum dots. The CdS quantum dots have been synthesised by a successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) technique, on TiO2 substrate. This has subsequently been used as an electron transport material in the perovskite solar cell based on CH3NH3PbI3. In the photoluminescence spectra, an intense quenching around ≈770 nm has been observed upon the addition of CdS quantum dots, which is appreciably linked with the rise of the induced photon to current efficiency of the respective solar cells. The enhanced perovskite solar cell photon conversion efficiency can be endorsed to the
longer electron life time that implies lower charge carrier recombination rate in the device structure after incorporating of CdS quantum dots.
