BCH 493: Research Project
This course is an introductory, research-oriented course designed to immerse undergraduate students in the research process. In this course, students conduct a hypothesis-based small research project with hands-on experiments under the supervision of a faculty advisor. The course involves performing a literature review, designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results.
In addition to the practical laboratory work, students are expected to communicate their findings through a comprehensive written report, a scientific poster, and an oral presentation delivered in front of an academic committee. This course aims to develop students' skills in critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and effective communication, providing them with a strong foundation for future research or professional pursuits in biochemistry and related fields.
