Showcasing Research on Drone Video Anomaly Detection at World Defense Show 2026
As part of ongoing research activities in intelligent surveillance and autonomous systems, MSc student Wejdan Alotaibi participated in the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh with her project titled “Enhancing Lightweight Anomaly Detection for Drone Video Surveillance.”
The project focuses on developing efficient, resource-aware AI models capable of detecting abnormal events in aerial video streams, supporting real-time situational awareness in high-risk and mission-critical environments. The research emphasizes lightweight architectures designed for deployment on edge devices and autonomous platforms where computational resources are limited. The project reflects a broader research direction centered on applied AI, intelligent monitoring systems, and the integration of machine learning into real-world operational contexts.
This contribution highlights the role of academic research in advancing practical solutions for complex environments while preparing graduate students to address national priorities in autonomous systems and intelligent surveillance.
