Course Description: This course aims at introducing students to the four major components of phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Students should do enough exercises to ensure good coverage of the material at hand. |

General Goal: Develop a solid understanding of ‘linguistics’ and the basic concepts in the areas of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. |

Classroom norms & expectations
- All students are expected to attend classes regularly and turn in assignments on time
- There is no need to take permission to enter/leave the class
- Attendance is taken at the beginning of the class. All are welcome to enter class after attendance is taken but are considered absent!
- Students who do not miss a single class for the entire semester are given 5 marks additional credit and will earn a full mark allotted for participation
