- Drugs discovery through carrying out a limited panel of bioassays for screening and evaluation of certain biological activities of natural products, including:
- In vitro 1ry cultured rat hepatocyte cell culture in the assessment of hepatoprotective and hepatotoxic activity of natural products.
- Brine shrimp lethality assay and growth inhibition of various cancer cell lines for evaluation of cytotoxic activity of natural products.
- LPS-stimulated RAW246.7 macrophage cells and immunoblot assay for measuring the expressed pro-inflammatory iNOS and COX-II as an index for anti-inflammatory / inflammatory activity of natural products
- In vivo assay for hepatoprotective evaluation of natural products.
- Bioautographic TLC Identification of antioxidants, AChEIs, Lipase inhibitors, glucosidase inhibitors, etc.
- Structure elucidation of isolated compounds on the basis of spectroscopic analyses, including those of 1D and 2D (1H-1H COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and NOESY) NMR spectra.
- Isolation of bioactive compounds from natural sources (plants, marine organisms, and microorganisms) using bioassay-guided techniques. This includes isolation of aqueous and n-BuOH soluble polar compounds by adopting gel affinity chromatographies using Diaion HP, MCI CHP, Toypearl HW, and Sephadex LH.
