مختصر السيرة الذاتية
Dr. Haseeb A. Khan is a Distinguished Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, College of Science, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is the Group Leader of Analytical and Molecular Bioscience Research Group and Chair Professor at Research Chair for Biomedical Applications of Nanomaterials. Before moving to King Saud University, he served as a Senior Scientist at Armed Forces Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He obtained his PhD from Aligarh Muslim University (a central government university), Aligarh, India and received scientific trainings at USA, UK, France, Denmark and Finland. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK). He has published more than 300 articles, authored 2 books and 19 book chapters. He has deposited 210 gene sequences to GenBank and 13 SNPs to dB-SNP database. His innovative research includes the development of methods and protocols for the analysis of ATP, GFAP and tyrosine hydroxylase in mouse brain; efficient extraction of skin lipids; and computer-aided quantification of gastric ulcers in rats. He has also developed 8 software tools for biomedical applications, which have been published in reputed journals and demanded by more than 400 scientists from 40 countries. Scientists from prestigious institutions like Harvard University, Oxford University, WHO, etc have appreciated these software tools. The factorial equation developed by him has been utilized by scientists from Emory University, USA (http://web1.sph.emory.edu/users/cdckms/ctab-logbased-exact.html) and Swinburne University, Australia (http://clintools.com/misc/acknow.html) for creating their own software tools. He is a recipient of Microsoft eScience Award and listed in Top-2% World Ranking of Scientists, published by Stanford University, USA.

Research Highlights
Prof. Khan has made significant contribution in bridging gaps between chemistry, molecular biology, computation and medical sciences. He discovered dual biomarker potential of glycated hemoglobin for glycemic control and dyslipidemia. This pioneering research compelled the Japanese pharmaceutical company, Kissei Pharmaceuticals, to display his data in their product brochures. He identified novel SNPs in carnitine transporter genes and discovered the role of carnitine homeostasis in heart disease. His multidisciplinary approach resulted in better understanding of complex mechanisms of disease pathogenesis, immune response and toxicological drug interactions. Due to successful implementation of his graphical add-in for survival analysis, he received the prestigious Smart Clients for eScience Award from Microsoft Corporation, winning $25,000 in prize money.
