My role as a director includes but not limited to the following:
- Plans, implements, and evaluates each department scope of services, objectives, and yearly strategy in line with the vision and mission of the City.
- Evaluates and recommends each department budget allocations, expenditures and ensure fiscal controls.
- Implements and follows with the team the cost containment initiative plan which saved more than 1.7 million during 2009-2010.

PhD, Molecular Pathology, Thesis title: “The Role of Transforming Growth Factor-b1 in Colon Adenocarcinoma”. Supervised by Dr John Lawry.
My research investigated novel inhibitory and proliferation control effects of Transforming Growth Factor β1 (TGF-β1) in colon cancer cell lines and human tissue samples. We managed to determine the involvement of p15, p21, p27, p16, CDKIs and TGF-β1 in controlling the G1/G2 phase of cell cycle using Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry staining and in-situ Hybridization (ISH). Also this study established the significance of TGF-β1 activity in-vitro in terms of secondary pathway including checkpoint proteins using Western Blotting and DNA Staining. Finally, we conclude given the specific signaling pathways activated by TGF-β1 and of the responses of cells as it progress to an invasive phenotype, it will be important not only to continue to use sophisticated molecular approaches in vitro, but also to intensify efforts to extend these investigations to more complex in vivo models.
