Advanced Issues in Translation (534 TRAJ)

This is a postgraduate course. It  addresses important topics and issues in the translation process, such as equivalence (in both its functional and formal aspects), the difference between textual meaning and contextual meaning, the distinction between literal and free translation, the localization or foreignization of texts, translation strategies, handling linguistic ambiguity, idiomatic expressions, collocations, abbreviations, proverbs, and the translatability or untranslatability of certain elements.
