Basic Networking - NET 1113

General Information

Description

This is an online course that teaches computer networks. In general, this course is a combination of theory and its applications. It aims to raise awareness of computer networks (of different types and techniques) and how to construct, operate and administer them. It also covers the basic information necessary for the specialist networks to provide information services in a networked environment.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

·        Explain the basic concepts of computer network technology.

·        Describe the basic protocols of computer networks, and how they can be used to assist in network design and implementation.

·        Identify the different types of network topologies and protocols.

·        Utilize different types of network devices and test their functions within a network.

·        Differentiate between the OSI and TCP/IP models.

·        Perform sub-netting and routing mechanisms.

Course Structure

This course will be delivered entirely online through Blackboard. You will use your KSU account to login to the course from Blackboard page. If you are facing any technical problems, please contact KSU technical support. You can also use Blackboard application (for iOS or Android).

In Blackboard, you will attend online classes through the Virtual Classroom, access course material and resources, participate in activities, and you will submit your assignments and quizzes.
