This course provides a general background in neuropharmacology with an emphasis on pharmacological agents acting on the central and perepheral nervous system.The therapeutic use, mechanism of action, adverse effects, absorption, distribution, and metabolism will be emphasized for each pharmacological agent presented in class. Neuropharmmacolgical topics include neurological and psychological disorders such as epilepsy, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, tremors, Alzheimer's, addiction, spinal cord injuries, sleep, pain, stroke and metabolic disorders (such as eating disorder and diabetes). This course will be graded on the basis of two in-class examinations and one final exam.
