Manufacturing Processes-I- ME-312
The course is designed to introduce students an introduction to the manufacturing processes along with the basic concepts of classification, concepts and various technologies of manufacturing processes including bulk and sheet metal forming, metal casting in expendable and permanent molds and fusion welding processes which are widely utilized in industry. Calculation of process particulars such as forces work done and power as well as the interrelationships between the material properties and the manufacturing process is also covered. The intent of these topics is to widen the students’ understanding of the main manufacturing processes technologies and their industrial applications along with calculations of their particulars and strengthen their ability to work in team through course project and practical experience through lab/work shop sessions thereby contributing to the achievement of student outcomes SO1, SO2, SO5 and SO6.
