CSC 588: Data Warehouse and Data mining

Course Objectives: The objective of this course is to develop the students' ability to:

• Understand the use of data warehousing and data mining systems.
• Understand of database technology underpinning data warehousing and data mining.
• Understand data warehouse physical design.
• Understand the data mining processand requirements in its every phase to build a successful application
• Understand various  data-mining techniques and use standard, or develop new software tools for data mining.
• Ameliorate the students’ research and writing skills.

Topics (tentative):
Introduction, Data pre-processing, Data warehousing and OLAP technology, Data cube computation, Mining frequent patterns, Classification and prediction, Clustering, Graph mining.
