Medical Terminology : NUR -120
This course provides students with the building blocks of medical terminology. Prefixes, suffixes, roots, combining forms, pronunciation, spelling, and the definitions of medical terms related to different body systems required for future nursing practice.
A student who successfully completes the course will have reliably the ability to acquire a basic rule for using words parts to form medical terms and the use of the correct phonetic pronunciation of the medical terms.
Recognize the most common prefixes and suffixes and define word building.
Recognize the combining forms and suffixes related to the all body systems and special topics "Pharmacology, diagnostic imaging, surgery, oncology, mental health and rehabilitation services.
Define vocabulary , pathology, diagnostic and therapeutic medical terms related to all body systems.
Demonstrate verbal and nonverbal communication techniques to achieve effective interactions with peers, and instructors.
