NUR 551: ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION IN MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING

The major focus of this clinical course is on the assessment & diagnosis within a conceptual framework of nursing practice. The assessment focuses on physiological & behavioral changes in health status. The practicum provides the student with an opportunity to test the articulation of selected concepts within a clinical perspective by performing assessment skills, interpreting findings, applying laboratory diagnostic methods, developing plans of care & implementing nursing strategies to promote personal, cognitive & physical health of clients. Students select a specific adult medical-surgical patient population for concentration in this course.
