OPTO499 Research Project II
Course Description
· To introduce the students to research projects under supervision in which a research project is proposed, data collection, data analysis, written up a report and presented. The report could be of any number of formats; however, background research, methods, data collection, analysis, presentation and evaluation should be discussed.
· The minimum requirement of this project is to submit a report that highlighted the title, aim, materials, research methods, hypothesis, introduction and literature background about the specific research topic.

· Tutorial sessions were given each student by his supervisor to teach the students how to: choose their study, write proposals, collect and analyse data, how to write materials and methods, results discussion, how to draw conclusions and do the poster.
Course Objectives
· To introduce the students to research projects and the study hypothesis.
· To enable the student to differentiate between various types of research.
· To teach the student how to represent work by various types of presentations.
· To work and how to write their research reports.
· To highlight the research ethics and how to apply for an ethical approval for their research.
· To highlight the differences between research and other modules.
· To teach the students how to use scientific search engine.
· To equip the students with techniques to meet deadline for the completion of research and submission of reports.
· To enable the students how to critique scientific article.
· To teach the students how to use statistical software.
· To teach the students how to discuss and represent results in a scientific way.
· To warn the students about plagiarism.
