نبذة تعريفية / مختصر السيرة الذاتية
الدكتور باسل بن عبدالله السدحان هو أستاذ مشارك بقسم الهندسة الكهربائية بجامعة الملك سعود، ويشغل حالياً منصب نائب المحافظ للاستراتيجية بهيئة تنمية البحث والتطوير والابتكار، وقد شغل سابقاً منصب نائب الأمين العام لخدمات الموهوبين بمؤسسة الملك عبدالعزيز ورجاله للموهبة والإبداع "موهبة" وقبل ذلك منصب عميد شؤون القبول والتسجيل بالجامعة. كما عمل سابقاً ولعدة سنوات كمستشار أمن سيبراني لدى عدد من الشركات السعودية. وهو حاصل على درجة الدكتوراه من قسم الهندسة الكهربائية وهندسة الحاسبات بجامعة كارنيجي ميلون الأمريكية.
تقع الاهتمامات البحثية للدكتور السدحان في مجالات: الأمن السيبراني، أمن الشبكات، تحليل حركة حزم البيانات، كشف السلوكيات الشاذة في الشبكات، معالجة الإشارات العشوائية، والذكاء الاصطناعي ويشمل ذلك تمييز الأنماط وتعلم الآلة. وله كتاب مؤلف وقد نشرت أعماله البحثية في عدة مجلات ومؤتمرات علمية دولية. وهو حاصل على جائزة عالم كاوست (جامعة الملك عبدالله للعلوم والتقنية).
Dr. Basil AsSadhan is an associate professor at the Electrical Engineering Department at King Saud University. He is currently the vice governor of strategy at the Research, Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA). He formerly held the position of the deputy secretary general for gifted services at King Abdulaziz & his Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity (Mawhiba), and prior to that the dean of admission and registration at the university. He also worked previously for several years as a cyber security consultant at a number of Saudi companies. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, USA.
Dr. AsSadhan's research interests are in the areas of: cyber security, network security, network traffic analysis, network anomaly detection, statistical signal processing, and artificial intelligence including machine learning and pattern recognition. He is the author of a book and has published his research work in several international scientific journals and conferences. He is the recipient of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Scholar Award.
