EMIS 531 Big Data Analytics

This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental understanding of Big Data that includes the necessary skills of collecting, storing, managing, exploring, processing, and computing big data for business purposes.

This course will use state-of-the-art big data management (including Relational SQL, Non-Relational NoSQL, Semi-Relational, and Metadata), big data exploration, preprocessing and computing through Big Data Machine Learning Platforms, e.g., Google Big Data Cloud, to provide hands-on experience. Students will learn how to apply big data techniques to sift through large amounts of data and provide actionable business insights.

The course has an additional introduction of the Google Big Data Cloud Platform including Machine Learning Products and Services that support the data-to-artificial intelligent (AI) lifecycle, such as BigQuery, Spark, etc.
