A highly accomplished and visionary pharmaceutical researcher with a Ph.D. from Oregon State University, dedicated to combating the global health crisis of antimicrobial resistance through cutting-edge, genome-guided drug discovery. Expertise lies in leveraging advanced bioinformatics and genomics to identify and characterize novel therapeutic agents against critical Gram-negative pathogens, specifically those harboring ESBL and MBL enzymes.

Currently serving as the Chairman of the Medicinal, Aromatic and Poisonous Plant Research Center at King Saud University, providing strategic leadership to advance natural product-based drug development. Research interests also extend to environmental biotechnology, pioneering innovative microbial bioremediation strategies to degrade pollutants and restore ecosystem health.

An active and engaged member of leading professional organizations, including the American Society of Pharmacognosy and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). A dedicated mentor and educator with a proven track record in supervising research laboratories, guiding student development, and contributing high-impact research through publications and collaborative scientific endeavors.   • Microbial Bioremediation: Investigating innovative strategies that utilize microbial communities for the degradation of environmental pollutants, with a focus on understanding the mechanisms of microbe-pollutant interactions to enhance biodegradation and restore ecosystem health.
  • Molecular Biology & Biochemistry: Extensive experience in molecular techniques (PCR, qPCR, cloning) and biochemical assays to study bacterial resistance mechanisms and evaluate the bioactivity of natural compounds.
  • Bioinformatics & Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD): Proficient in using genomic databases and software for data analysis, coupled with advanced skills in virtual screening, molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and ADMET profiling for rational drug design from natural sources.
  • Academic Leadership & Research Management: Proven leadership as Chairman of the Medicinal, Aromatic and Poisonous Plant Research Center, including supervision of specialized laboratories (Microbial Natural Products Lab), management of academic committees, and ensuring laboratory safety and compliance.
