OPTO 435 Microbiology II , Lectures 1 to 7
This is an intensive medical microbiology course intended for students in Optometry department. The structure of the course is based on the most frequent eye infections. It will emphasise on the microorganisms involved in the pathogenesis of ocular infections. Some of the techniques used to confirm the diagnosis. Ways to prevent such infections and important infection control practice in the optometry clinic. Optometrists need to understand the bacteria, viruses and amoebae, which can infect the lids, conjunctiva and the cornea, and the diagnostic methods used in the laboratory. This course will consider these organisms by the tissue that they infect and the methods used to identify and treat the infection they cause.
