CHEM 640: Advanced Organic Synthesis

The objective of this course is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the mechanistic aspects of organic chemistry by describing a variety of modern synthesis methods for transformation of functional groups as well as formation of new carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds. A problem-solving approach is employed to develop the ability to elucidate information, both qualitative and quantitative, concerning reaction mechanisms from experimental data.
