Ali Kashif Bashir is a dedicated professor with a passion for innovation and a proven history of guiding enterprises in technological adaptation. He has advised government bodies, universities, and companies like IBM, Siemens, and Samsung. He has collaborated with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT), Japan; Korea Electric Power&Co (KECPO)- South Korea; ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), South Korea; SK- Telecom, etc. on world-leading initiatives. Centre of Digital Innovation (CDI), Greater Manchester Cyber Foundry, and Greater Manchester AI Foundry are multimillion-pound strategic projects he led. He is a professor of computer networks and cybersecurity at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), UK. He leads several research initiatives nationally and internationally in the field of smart infrastructures, cybersecurity, and Secure and Intelligent Systems. He has authored over 400 world-leading research articles (300 plus Journals, mostly in the top 10 percentile), and 10+ books, solved several research problems, contributed to industrial products, taught thousands of students worldwide, supervised over 30 PhDs, evaluated 60+ PhD thesis, chaired over 50 international conferences, and delivered 80+ keynote addresses around the globe. He oversees MMU's Secure and Intelligence Systems Research Group, Future Networks Lab, Turing Network's AI Safety and Security Taskforce, and cybersecurity pathway line management. Ali enjoys honorary and adjunct professor positions at universities in the US, Canada, China, Malaysia, India, and Pakistan.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a senior member of IEEE, a Member of the Council of Professors and Heads of Computing (CPHC)-UK, a member of several technical bodies, and a Distinguished Speaker of ACM. He received the Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher Award in 2023 and 2024. He was listed as an IEEE Featured Author in 2021. He is EIC of IEEE Technology, Policy and Ethics, and Vetting Advisory Committee Member of IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, and AE of several reputed journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, Scientific Reports, Nature, etc.
