This course gives an introduction to the soil properties and classification. The lectures will teach stdudent the  basics of types and classification of rocks, formation of soils, Weight-volume relationships, consistency limits,classification of soils. soil compaction, permeability and seepage. Also, this course will cover the total and effective stress principle; and soil stresses using elastic theory.
