I have been working on the ultra-structure of normal and pathological cornea at Cornea Research Chair, Department of Optometry, King Saud University. My main research interests are investigating re-modelling of collagen fibrils and proteoglycans in human and animal cornea affected by diseases such as keratoconus, post-LASIK cornea, cross-linked cornea, bullous keratopathy, granular dystrophy etc. These diseases cause the cornea to become opaque. Recently, he published the differences in lamellar organisation of the periphery and the centre of the keratoconus cornea and showed the origin of the undulating lamellae above the Descemet’s membrane at the periphery region of the KC cornea.
