Course Overview:
 
In this course students will be provided with fundamental knowledge concerning pathogenic microorganisms and immunology of infectious diseases required for control of infectious disease; and public health knowledge and risk management skills required in order to put nursing for infectious disease control into practice. In addition students will be exposed to different models that ensure understand the risks attendant to infected patients, patients susceptible to infection, and others, as well as acquire the knowledge required to develop nursing care and the ability to evaluate it.
 
Course Objectives:
By the end of the sessions the student nurse will be able to:
 

1. Recall the infectious agents of the studied infectious diseases.
2. Summarize the cycle of infectious diseases transmission.
3. Categorize infectious agents according to their types
4. Compare the mode of diseases transmission of various types of pathogens 
5.  Compare between the various pathogenic infectious agents and normal bacterial floras.
   1. Classify infectious diseases according to their mode of transmission
   2. Plan an infectious disease control program in school environment
   3. Evaluate methods of prevention and control of studies infectious diseases.
