Introduction to Dentistry (181 PCS)
Course Description: Provide first year dental students with an introduction to concepts, principles and procedures of various disciplines in dentistry with emphasis on prevention, comprehensive treatment and patient management. (1 credit hour)
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, the student should:
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of the fundementals and principles of the dental profession
- Demonestrate an understanding of the major clinical and laboratory procedures related to the practice of dentistry
- Demonestrate thorough understanding of various dental specialities
- List main procedures in each speciality
- Discuss basic preventive aspects of each speciality in dentistry
Course Organization:
Class activities will be in the form of lectures and discussions.
Recomended Readings:
Library readings such as introductory chapter from discpline textbook or handouts will be assigned for each lecture.
