Dr. Aliah M. Abuammah is an interdisciplinary scientist specialising in bioengineering, non-viral gene delivery systems, and high-throughput screening (HTS). She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine Research from Imperial College London through a joint collaboration between the Department of Medicine and the Department of Bioengineering, and is certified by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as a biological engineer.

Her current research focuses on the development of a novel non-viral gene therapy platform based on her patented nanocomplex technology, aimed at improving the safety and efficiency of genetic material delivery. In parallel, Dr. Abuammah is actively participating in a Fabry disease gene therapy clinical trial in collaboration with Sichuan Real & Best Biotech Co., Ltd., which has received Investigational New Drug (IND) approval in China and has been submitted for pre-IND approval with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Her scientific expertise also spans genome editing technologies such as CRISPR and RNA interference (RNAi).

Beyond gene delivery research, Dr. Abuammah has developed a theoretical framework in material science related to thermophoresis and particle deposition, for which she holds intellectual property rights. This theory has potential cross-disciplinary applications in biomedical engineering, materials science, and industrial processes.

Currently, she serves as Principal Investigator (PI) of a clinical trial developing an innovative intraoperative imaging device to visualize coronary blood flow during open-heart surgery. This project, conducted in collaboration with a private sector partner, integrates clinical research, engineering design, and translational innovation, with a patent pending.

Dr. Abuammah’s expertise spans basic biomedical research, translational science, regulatory strategy, intellectual property development, and interdisciplinary project leadership, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing technologies that bridge scientific discovery and clinical application.
