IE 655 Manufacturing Strategies

Course Description: Modern manufacturing strategies; lean and agile manufacturing; new classifications of manufacturing systems; concepts and methodologies of analysis and design of manufacturing systems (conceptual modeling; information modeling; Petri Nets; Knowledge-Based Systems KBS, Computer Simulation), new trends in designing of manufacturing strategies.
 
Course Objectives:  Development of manufacturing strategies, design and implementation skills as applicable to lean and agile manufacturing. Students should have a detailed understanding of modeling methods and methodologies of design and analysis of manufacturing system configurations and how to use them in real applications in addition, students should be able to apply the current literature to manufacturing strategies problems.
