Course description: 

The course aims at the study of the linguistic, structural and semantic aspects of different types of texts. Students are trained to analyse several types of texts including narrative, procedural, descriptive and argumentative texts. Focus is on improving students’ ability to identify the features that distinguish one text type from another. Ultimately, the course aims at enhancing the student’s ability to carry out a contrastive analysis of the source language and the target for translation purposes.
