نبذة تعريفية / مختصر السيرة الذاتية

Over the past 20 years I have taught integrated anatomy to medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing and allied medical students. I have taught all disciplines of anatomy including developmental, macro and microanatomy, radiological and cross sectional anatomy. I teach both on cadavers and through interactive students-centered modules system that is intermingled with clinical concepts.  I use software, based on real-time-dissected cross-sectional animated images as alternative source of cadavers. Virtual Anatomy Lab is in the pipeline and will soon be a part of our teaching tool. Recently I have introduced a team-based-learning TBL to the undergraduate medical students.
I completed my MD in 1991 from Karachi University Pakistan. As a freshman in medical college, cadaveric dissection was my favorite activity. I felt that nothing taught me better than actually working on the human anatomy. I was amazed at the complex arrangement by the osseous protective framework, the fascial sheaths wrapping and protecting organs, the areolar tissue filling empty spaces, the closed canal system allowing blood and lymph to flow, and nerves carrying vibrant ionic messages across the human body.
I received the prestigious MONBUSHO a Japanese Government scholarship in 1994 to pursue graduate school and completed PhD in Anatomy form Chiba University of Japan in 1998. My PhD thesis was about Dystrophin, a protein product of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). I applied many techniques related to cell-biology, molecular biology, cell culture, microinjection, ultra-thin microtome sectioning, electron microscopy, florescence lesser confocal microscopy to finish my thesis.
From April 1994 to March 1998 during the PhD studentship I worked as a part time teaching assistant in anatomy dissection lab at Chiba University in Japan. My duties involved: demonstrate/teach cadaveric dissection to the undergraduate medical and dental students, preserving the dissected parts for examinations, making the specimens and embalming of cadavers. Above all, I learned a lot from rich Japanese culture. HI SO DESU “yes sir” the phrase use as very polite Japanese nature is still part of my existence. I indulge myself in many Japanese cultural activities to get deeper knowledge. I can fluently speak Japanese. I offered my part time services to the community center by acting as an interpreter for Urdu/English and Japanese languages.
After completing my PhD, I joined Isra University, Pakistan in April 1998. I was the one who single-handedly established the department of anatomy. I also designed a hybrid form of curriculum, based on dedicated lectures mixed with problem-based-learning PBL modules.

I created artificial metallic bone models. Later-on, these bones became very eminent, beneficial, user-friendly, and easily available tools for students learning. These bones are called “Vohra Bones”. I also established a histopathology lab/preparation room and made 100’s of normal slides for study purposes.
In October 2003, I joined the Department of Anatomy, King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Till date I am working as a professor here. I am coordinating the integration of anatomical part in clinical-based-scenarios in a hybrid curriculum consisting of PBL & TBL. To bring novelty within the hybrid form of curriculum I am using “life models” instead of providing students with simulated models or written material.
I am also an active coordinator for individual readiness awareness IRAT and team RAT parts of TBL. I use immediate feedback technique IF-AT for student. I work closely with surgery, radiology orthopedics departments. I serve on committees & sub committees of the University as well as the department.  and acting as an external examiner for many other universities.
I have vast experience in an integrated, student-centered & case-based teaching, PBL and TBL curricula with profound knowledge of medical imaging methodologies; my extended experience permits me to blend basic science with clinical concepts. I maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues and other departments. I have sound knowledge of instructional techniques to develop & deliver an integrated curriculum, enable me to be an excellent candidate for a faculty position in your institution.
In June 2014, I got the Permanent Immigrant Visa (Green Card) and moved my family to USA, but due to a three years contract with my present employer, I continued employment in King Saud University. My current contract will finish on Mar 28, 2018. After that I will move to the USA.
I have conducted a regular research activity and published many article in peer review journals & maintained a good citation record both at Research Gate & Google Scholars.
