Profile

Dr. Sirhan Alotaibi received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of  Exeter (UK) in 1991. He is now an associate professor of political science at King Saud University, where he teaches comparative politics and Middle Eastern and East Asian courses. His research focuses on political issues relating to political violence ,Saudi Foreign Policy (especially toward China, Japan and Korea), and Arabian Peninsula States , with a specific emphasis on the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). Recent research projects have focused on Saudi-Chinese-Japanese relations. For Dr. Alotaibi, the defining questions of our time are how will presence of Western military affect the GCC states' decision making, (especially regarding the foreign policy),  and how will this lead to the Gulf region stability.
