Course Description:  EE320 deals with the basics of a modern communication systems. The course starts with a review of Fourier series and Fourier transform which are used frequently during the rest of the course. The main course is divided into two parts: the analog communications and the digital communications. The analog communication covers Amplitude Modulation (AM) and Frequency Modulation (FM). The digital communication part covers the sampling theorem, Analog Pulse Modulation (APM), Digital Pulse Modulation (DPM), and some advanced topics. For detailed course outline, click here.

 

 

Grading:     05%     Attendance

                     15%     Homework and Quiz

                     20%     First Mid-term Exam

                     20%     Second Mid-term Exam

                       40%     Final Exam

 

Attendance:         - Attendance is mandatory on lectures and tutorials. Attendance is TAKEN at each meeting

- A student with absence rate of greater than 25% by the second midterm is PROHIBITED from taking the Final Exam.

 

Notes:                 - Honor system is applied. Cheating will NOT be tolerated in homework, exams or attendance list.
