· Course Objectives:
The course introduces students to the basic notions in text linguistics like textuality and texture, differences between text and discourse, text linguistics approaches, etc. It also introduces students to the seven standards of textuality and concentrates on cohesion and coherence of texts. Then, the course provides students with the necessary systems to analyze different texts like Halliday & Hasan's system of cohesive ties. Finally, it highlights the different types of texts and their individual distinctive characteristics.
· Marks Distribution:
-1st in-term = 25
-2nd in-term = 25
-Final exam = 50
-Total = 100
-Passing mark = 60
FMarks will be deducted for language mistakes (spelling, grammatical, and vocabulary mistakes).
%Note:- NO Make-ups are given for exams unless the student has a serious problem. In this case, the student should contact the teacher before the scheduled date of the exam and presents the necessary verifications.
