Course description:
This course tackles primary community health care principles and means of delivering care to individuals, families, and groups. The roles of the community health nurse are viewed from a multifaceted, dynamic, and interactive perspective within the limits of changing environment. Student will explore the impact of illness on the individual, family and community in general. Clinical experiences will be provided within a variety of setting with focus on the assessment of the community needs, health prevention promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
Course objective:
After the completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Integrate knowledge from scientific / humanistic sciences with community health nursing principles in order to facilitate learning.
- Understanding the history and evaluation of community health nursing.
- Define community health nursing.
- Describe the process of community assessment to plan the nurse actions.
- Discuss the concepts of family assessment in the different situations of the family.
- Identify different community health nursing roles.
- Discuss the importance of introducing change at different community setting.
- Identify health related problems facing the family.
- Discuss social issue considered as community health problems.
- Understand cultural issues that are related to community health.
- Describe the roles of the school nurse.
- Understand care provided to older adults living in a community.
- Understand care provided to mentally ill persons in the community.
- Discuss importance of environmental health in maintaining health community.
- Relate primary health care concepts to community health nursing.
- Identify the importance of epidemiological topics in community health nursing.

- student are expected to attend all class sessions, if a student must miss a class, the instructor must be notified and the student should be notified and the student should be notified he is allowed only 25% of total hours .
- student are expected to come to class prepared having read assigned readings- guidelines for class preparation summary of the lecture will be in the library.
- Students are expected to participate in all class learning activities.
