Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan is a Professor in Structural Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering and Managing Director of Center of Excellence for Concrete Research and Testing at King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). He is formerly Lecturer (Asst. Professor USA system), Department of Civil Engineering, University of Nottingham, UK. He received his PhD degree from the University of Sheffield, UK in 1999. He has vast teaching and research experience at highly reputed universities. During his career he taught more than dozen different undergraduate and graduate courses on subjects related to structural engineering. He has vast experience of course and curriculum development in wide spectrum of civil engineering. He is actively involved in development and accreditation of undergraduate and graduate programs and has been actively involved in developing strategic plan for engineering and its implementation.


Dr. Khan is actively engaged in research in areas related to materials and structural engineering. His primary research interests are in bond and structural behavior of concrete-filled tubes; nano- and micro-mechanics of composite materials; cement-based and polymer-based fiber reinforced composites; sustainability; environmental impact; supplementary cementitious materials; nanostructure and microstructure of cement and concrete; self-compacting concrete and prediction modeling. He has served as principal investigator/co-investigator on numerous research projects locally and internationally. He has carried out numerous concrete materials/structure industry research and consultancy projects, in the UK and in the KSA. He successfully completed several international collaborative research projects with Germany, Canada, and UK. 

Dr. Khan has published over 130 technical papers, holds 20 patents, edited/co-edited 2 volumes, authored/co-authored 2 books, and supervised over 36 MSc and PhD theses. He conducted numerous MSc and PhD theses oral examinations including two jury oral examination at University of Bahrain and University of Sherbrooke (Canada). He got 4 gold and 2 silver medals for his inventions at International level and recipient of 8 Excellence and Distinguished awards. He serves as editor/associate editor of 6 international journals. He has delivered over 30 invited lectures/seminars, over 25 conference lectures in various countries including USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Singapore, Malaysia, Netherlands, Hong Kong, China. He has served over 20 international conferences as technical committee member and is a regular reviewer for over 15 highly reputed international journals. He is member of numerous international professional bodies including ACI, ASCE, ICT, RILEM. He is approved examiner for American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certification Programs and conducted numerous certifications programs for practicing engineers.
