This paper has twin aims. Firstly, it will briefly deal with the definition of the syllable in general, its structure and its importance. Secondly, it will discuss and illustrate the syllable structure constraints in Arabic. Following that will be an illustration of the phonological treatments of some loanwords in Arabic. This will be explained in the light of Arabic syllable structure constraints. Finally, some teaching implications will be presented.
