Course Description:

This course deals with advanced problems in the area of scheduling of industrial operations. It includes optimization algorithms, algorithm convergence; Advanced Shop Scheduling; Advanced Multiprocessor Scheduling; Scheduling Flexible Manufacturing Systems; Resource Constrained Project Scheduling; Multi-criteria Scheduling; Cyclic Scheduling. The course will also covers some improvement type algorithms such as simulated annealing, tabu search and genetic algorithms to solve computationally difficult scheduling problems

2)Operations Scheduling with Applications in Manufacturing and Services, Michael Pinedo and Xiuli Chao, McGraw Hill 2000


Course will be determined by these weights:
Paper presentation 20%
Project progress report submitted weekly and final report and presentation 40%
Take home Final Exam 40%

Take Home Final Exam

A take home final exam will be given on Saturday May 18th, 2013.  and it should be returned on Saturday May 25th, 2013.


Every student will submit two projects on a topic involving sequencing and scheduling problem. A presentation on the first project will be given on March 31st , 2013 and the second presentation will be given on May 12th, 2013.
